Where to put your product quiz on your Shopify store

Quizpep team · September 28, 2026 · 5 min read

You’ve built a quiz that helps shoppers pick the right product. Now people need to find it. A great quiz tucked away on a page nobody visits won’t help anyone.

This guide covers the three ways to show a Quizpep quiz on your store, when each one makes sense, and the places worth promoting it.

Three ways to show your quiz

1. As a section on any page

You can add the quiz as a section through the Shopify theme editor, the same way you add a slideshow or a featured collection. Open the theme editor, pick the page, add the quiz section and position it where you want.

The quiz then sits inside the page, surrounded by your own content.

Use it when the quiz belongs in context. Good examples:

  • On the homepage, below your hero banner, for first-time visitors
  • At the top of a large collection, to help people narrow it down
  • On a landing page for a campaign
  • On an “About our products” or “How to choose” page

A section works well when the page around it helps explain why the quiz is worth taking.

2. On its own quiz page

Each quiz can also live on its own page on your store, at an address that starts with /apps/quiz/p/. The page shows the quiz on its own, with nothing else competing for attention.

Use it when you’re sending people to the quiz from somewhere else:

  • Links in emails and SMS
  • Your social media bio
  • Ads
  • A link in your main menu

A dedicated page gives you one clean link to share. Shoppers who click a link that says “Find your routine” land right on the quiz, not on a page where they have to look for it.

3. As a pop-up

The quiz can also open in a pop-up over whatever page the shopper is on. There are three ways to open it:

  • A floating button that stays in the corner of the screen, so the quiz is always one click away on every page.
  • Auto-open after a delay, so the quiz appears on its own after a visitor has been on the page for a set time.
  • Any link ending in #quiz, which opens the pop-up instead of going to a new page. You can add these links to buttons, menu items, your announcement bar or product descriptions.

Use it when you want the quiz available everywhere without redesigning pages. The #quiz link is especially handy. You can turn almost any text or button on your store into a quiz launcher without touching your theme’s layout.

A word on auto-open: use it with care. Give visitors enough time to look at the page first, and make sure the pop-up is easy to close. A pop-up that appears the moment someone lands can feel pushy.

Which one should you use?

You don’t have to pick just one. Many stores combine them. A simple starting setup:

  1. A quiz page you can link to from menus, emails and social.
  2. A section on the homepage or your biggest collection.
  3. A floating button or #quiz links so the quiz is reachable from anywhere.

If you’re short on time, start with the quiz page and one link in your main menu. You can add more later.

Where to promote your quiz

Once the quiz is live, put links to it where shoppers are already looking for help.

Add a menu link. Use a label that says what shoppers get, not what the tool is. “Find your shade” or “Which coffee is right for me?” is clearer than “Quiz”.

Homepage

A homepage section with a short headline and a clear button works well for new visitors who don’t know your range yet. Keep the copy simple: what the quiz helps with, and roughly how many questions it has.

Collection pages

Large collections are where shoppers get stuck. Add a line near the top, such as “Not sure where to start? Take our quiz.” Link it with #quiz to open the pop-up, or add the quiz as a section.

Product pages

Some shoppers land on a product page from search or ads and aren’t sure it’s the right one. A short line near the product details, such as “Not sure this is right for you? Find your match”, gives them a next step before they leave.

Announcement bar

The bar at the top of your store is seen on almost every page. It’s a good spot for a quiz link, especially while you’re launching it. If you offer a welcome code for taking the quiz, mention it here.

Email and SMS

Your list is full of people who already know your brand. A few natural places for the quiz:

  • Your welcome email, for new subscribers who haven’t bought yet
  • A dedicated “Find your match” email when you launch the quiz
  • Follow-ups for people who browsed but didn’t buy

Link to the quiz page so people land straight on the first question.

Social media bio

Your bio link is valuable space. A quiz page is a good use of it, because it works for anyone who finds you on social, whether they’re new or already a fan. You can also share the quiz in posts and stories with a short preview of the questions.

Ads

If you run ads, try sending some traffic to the quiz page instead of a product or collection. This fits best when your ad speaks to shoppers who aren’t sure which product to choose. Make the ad and the quiz match. If the ad says “Find your perfect running shoe”, the quiz should start with running questions, not a sign-up form.

Measure what works

Give each placement some time, then look at the numbers. Quizpep’s analytics show views, starts, completions, emails, add to cart and sales for each quiz. If you create two versions of a quiz, you can run an A/B test between them to see which one does better.

To see which channels send people to the quiz, add UTM tags to the links you share in emails, social and ads. Then check them in your analytics tool.

A few questions worth asking:

  • Are people seeing the quiz but not starting it? The headline or button may not be clear enough.
  • Are people starting but not finishing? The quiz may be too long, or one question may be confusing.
  • Which placements bring the most completions? Put more effort there.
